Nauvoo Illinois Temple - Dedicated June 27, 2002
The Nauvoo Temple was originally built by the early saints through much hardship and sacrifice. In May of 1846, the temple was dedicated and became the second operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Unfortunatly a few years later in 1848, the temple was destroyed by fire. In April of 1999 President Gordon B. Hinckley, prophet of the church, announced that the temple would be rebuilt. Following its reconstruction, the Nauvoo Illinois Temple was dedicated on June 27, 2002, making it the 113th operating temple in the church.

Hello Family!!

It sounds like you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving day! Great job everyone who was able to do the 5k! That's something that I would love to do in the future sometime. Thanksgiving was nice, not quite the same though without family. We spent the morning of Thanksgiving making pumpkin bread to give out to some members in the ward. I used your recipe mom! We were invited over to our Bishop's home at 1:00 for a Thanksgiving meal. It was so yummy! They had quite the feast. They also had five desserts. Bishop Lee made a banana cream pie and Sister Lee made pumpkin, apple, a berry cobbler and some other green dessert. They had deviled eggs too.  At 3:00 we went over to ward member's home and had a Thanksgiving meal with them too. I tried my best to eat, but I didn't have much room left. Don't ask me why we agreed to have both meals :)

On Friday we had a Zone meeting and afterwards we had a potluck. Our zone leader mentioned about having lasagna, so I volunteered to make it. We borrowed a 9 x 13 pan from a neighbor downstairs, which actually was smaller than 9x13. With the left overs I made a one layer lasagna in an 8x8 pan. Everything turned out well and we had a great meal all together.

Sara was able to have her baptism interview on Saturday and hopefully her dad will be able to baptize her this Saturday! Her step mom and her mom's cousin who aren't members are planning on being there as well. The two work the night before until 5am on Saturday, but Anyth has said that this is a special day for Sara and that she will be there. We are so excited!

Also on Saturday we were able to visit a gentleman in the ward, Brother Kruger, who is 89. He lives on his own right now and his wife passed away 6 years ago on Thanksgiving. Our bishop and his family told us of this man as we ate with them and said they were going to visit him later that afternoon. His home smells like grandma and grandpa's and he has everything in its place. He has a little stocking and that's his only Christmas decoration. We'll check around the ward and see if someone has an extra Christmas tree we can set up for him. He's a sweet man and he joined the church years ago.

Starting today, on Mormon.org they have a special Christmas emphasis. On the site you can post your thoughts about Christmas, watch a video on the Nativity, and can make a link to that page on your facebook or blog page. The site also has music from Mo Tab that is available for downloading.

Love you all so much!! Take Care and know that you are in my prayers!

P.S. I have dark brown hair now. My hair takes really well to coloring apparently. It turned out black at first, but then after dying it with a lighter color, it's a little lighter. Sister Neville helped me. It really did turn out darker than I expected, but it will fade with time. There's nothing I can really do about it now :)
