Family,

This last week we've been meeting with some of the part member families. There is a new family in the ward that has 5 kids and one of their daughters is 10 and isn't baptized yet. So she is one that we'll be meeting with and there is a boy in another family that is 9 and not baptized, and we talked with his mother last week and they are ok with us teaching him. This family lives in Altoona, which is about 15 or 20 minutes away. We informed the Relief Society President that the kids would come to church if they had a ride and she went out of her way to pick them up for church.

 

The highlight for yesterday was that we had an investigator at church! The two kids that I just mentioned were also there, but we couldn't officially count them yet as investigators. The woman who came is Margaret. Her and her husband went to the Gladys Knight Fireside and loved it. We met up with the couple last week at Arby's and answered their questions from the fireside. They are a sweet couple and are looking for the truth. We'll be meeting with them this week as well sometime.

 

Our mission is at 285 baptisms for the year and as I was skimming over the list of baptism dates in the mission, I noticed that Mary, Haley, Carrie, Brion, and Paul have dates there in Iowa City!! That's so amazing! I hope and pray that all works out well for them.

 

Oh, one thing that is interesting that the people here in Iowa do is they have Beggers Night, where the kids go out trick or treating on October 30th instead of the 31st. On the 31st we'll have dinner with a part member family and they said they are planning on taking us out for Thai food!! There's a mission rule that we have to have our cars parked by 6 and we can be out till 8 or 9 if we are with members and have a dinner appointment. It'll be nice once Halloween is passed and we get to see pretty lights instead of scary decorations. 

 

Thanks so much, Mom, for copying and sending the section about Attitudes. I was asked to give a spiritual thought that day at district meeting and I actually ended up using part of that instead of something else I had prepared, because it went so well with other things that had been discussed. It was perfect!!
